Backrest Gap Fix
On the GL1800 a few folks have experienced a problem with a gap developing between the co-rider's backrest and the trunk. Although this doesn't really create a problem with comfort or rideability, it is rather unsightly and makes the overall fit and finish of the bike look rather sloppy. If you have a good relationship with your local dealer this unsightly gap should be covered under warranty. The problem is that the fix is to replace the back rest and this can be a crap shoot. The same people that make the problematic back rest are the same people that make the backrests that never have a problem. Its a crap shoot whether your next back rest will be good or not. One GL1800 owner stated that he changed his backrest 11 times before he got a good one! Although I find that hard to believe, I do since there is no motive to exaggerate.
